MY STORY

Kelley Carpenter is the Chief Storyteller for Chapters KC and has 30 years of experience as a visionary content creator and a strategic development and marketing professional. She has won numerous awards for her nonprofit work, including 11 Philly Awards and two Regional Emmy Awards in the past five years. 

 

Kelley is an exceptional writer, clever marketer and skilled fundraiser who specializes in helping agencies establish an authentic voice that is true to their brand. She brings stories to life and uses her two decades of nonprofit management experience and training to strategically create coordinated campaigns that grow donations and while following best practices in nonprofit fundraising. 

 

Kelley began her career as a newspaper journalist before spending the last 25 years working as an innovative leader at various nonprofits, including serving as Director of Development at Cross-Lines Community Outreach, Legal Aid of Western Missouri and The Villages. She has raised millions of dollars, developed dozens of successful campaigns and authored hundreds of successful grant proposals.

 

Kelley is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism and also earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Fundraising from the Bloch School of Business at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has been a longtime member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Kansas City Chapter and served as co-chair of the AFP Professional Development Committee from 2021-2022.
